debut album 'conversations with louise'
It’s a peculiar thing to be releasing a record I don’t relate to anymore. These songs were written between 2018 and 2019, two formative years during which I gave up on myself due to the trauma I’d experienced, but also faced up to for the first time. Anxiety, self-destructive behaviour, loneliness, disillusion and introspection are the foundations of this album. During the recording process, I worried that this collection of songs may be too messy or too inconsistent sonically; now I realise that it might just be a perfect representation of the rollercoaster that was my life then. It’s a difficult part of my past to look back to, but today I’m so glad to be finding some beauty in it through music.
Addressing your own issues is an incredibly gruelling and terrifying task and I couldn’t have done it without Louise, my therapist at the time. I wrote most of the songs on this album either directly before or after our therapy sessions. Each song was driven by the self-discovery brought on by them and consequently, it seemed fitting to name the album in their honour.
I have loved making this album, and I have loved learning to be vulnerable, coming out of the process embracing my own humanity. I really hope you enjoy whatever that sounds like.
